Irish Golf and the Digital Age – JustTreats.com

Hard to believe that two years have passed since JustTreats arrived on the Irish golf scene. What started out as simple discounted green fees has expanded into other areas… golf apparel, clubs, balls, lessons. Golfers who sign up for the offers (via email) get sent regular communications about current deals… today’s is for Dromoland Castle… and there’s a hefty ‘birthday’ prize up for grabs as well.

I made comments before about golf marketing and this is one channel that golf club’s can pursue. For many clubs that don’t have an online presence, don’t feel they need one or ask ‘what’s an online presence?’ this could be the perfect toe-in-the-water.

JustTreats.com is now Ireland’s Number One Golf Deals website, helping the golf industry to generate revenue and adapt to online buying. They have the largest database of Irish golfers and they work with over 200 golf clubs and Pros countrywide. These aren’t small courses either, with the likes of the K-Club, Rathsallagh and Woodenbridge just a few of the recognisable names on board.

“We have always aimed to make golf more accessible to everyone. By offering top green fees at great discounts we have given people what they want, the opportunity to get out and play more golf.”

“We also allow the clubs to reach a massive targeted audience of Irish golfers with ease. They leverage our social media and online marketing expertise to increase their revenues!” says Paul Thompson, General Manager.

Pros and Cons

There are golf clubs and golfers who feel that this green fee discounting route may not be a sensible one. There are certainly issues for and against. Clearly the green fee income they receive is heavily reduced (JustTreats frequently offers discounts in excess of 50%)… but clubs are receiving income where they might otherwise receive none. It gets the club name out there as well, and it introduces new golfers to the course. If the product is good enough, the club’s hope is that they will return.

The Prize

Up for grabs and worth €270 is a Garmin Approach S2 GPS watchClick the link and get your name in the draw - it's only running today (Friday 13th), until midnight.
