Open Weeks 4 - Irish Golf

Fin drives off the 10th at County Sligo
Here are three more Irish golf clubs with Open Weeks starting late next week or the week after (the Bank Holiday weekend, in case you'd forgotten). Two are links (Co Sligo and Arklow) and the third is the under-appreciated parkland of Naas Golf Club.

Arklow Golf Club

I found this flyer when I was at Rosslare GC on Sunday last. It's more of an Open-Week-And-A-Half with a broad range of events, from Singles to a Champagne Scramble... which sounds enlightening. It's €20 per event for visitors (or €15 if you're with a member). Can't argue with that for a fun links less than an hour from Dublin. It has a terrific start and you need to stay straight on the front nine - as there's very little forgiveness. Arklow Golf Club

County Sligo Golf Club (Rosses Point)

If you read my blog, this course needs no introduction. One of my absolute favourites and a thrill-a-minute links golf with some of the best views on the island. Click on the image below to see the events and green fees in a more readable size! As at Arklow, the 'week' goes on considerably longer: 10 days in this case. County Sligo Golf Club

The 1st at Naas - a dogleg right

Naas Golf Club

With lots of movement to the course - which you wouldn't believe if you drove past the clubhouse - Naas Golf Club has some very strong holes. The 1st is a beauty, and it gives off a feeling of space that seems at odds with the location - that's what I call smart design! Green fees are usually €10, rising to €20 for some events.

August Open Weeks are up and running - now we just need the weather to play ball.
