The Masters Of Powerscourt Team Event

The Masters is, for many, the start of the golf year… be it watching the Professionals taking on the beauty and drama of Augusta, or just getting back out onto the course.

Powerscourt Golf Club has combined the two with an Open Team Event on Friday, 8th April 2022.

For the week that’s in it golfers will get the chance to play the marvellous East Course to complement the action that will be underway over at Augusta National.

Announcing the event, Powerscourt Golf Club's General Manager, Gavin Hunt said:

"Our East Course will be in top condition and will offer our guests and members a chance to really soak up the expectation that comes with the first Major of the season on the professional tour.

The par-3 16th on the East course

"In our 16th hole at Powerscourt East, the signature par 3, we have a challenge framed by a pond, strategically placed bunkering, tall pines and a blossom-drenched embankment. We are really hoping to see some Masters magic there. The hole sets the tone for one of the best runs home in Irish golf.”

Powerscourt Golf Club are offering a very attractive prize pool to the value of €2,000 with every golfer on the day going into a draw to win a top of the range GPS watch.

  • Entry Fee is €60pp and includes a Powerscourt "Masters Burger" after the round
  • Prizes for Top 4 teams (Team of 4 any combination)
  • Prize for Top mixed team
  • 2 best stableford scores to count on each hole

  1. Reply to Kevin's recent Green Monster - here's my version...........(all white tees, because I'm humane)

    1. Portstewart 5th, par 4, 449 yards: goes up a never-ending hill, through a needle-eye gap to a green with evil fall-offs
    2. Heritage 2nd, par 5, 572 yards; Seve in a bad mood, more water here than turf
    3. Tullamore 18th, par 4, 448 yards; more doglegs than the Irish Greyhound Derby, and a jumbo-sized portion of trees
    4. Concra Wood 4th, par 5, 525 yards: Otter Island, you'd want to be one to get round this divil
    5. Donegal 5th, par 3, 194 yards: Valley of Tears.....and a few expletives
    6. Portarlington 7th, par 4, 402 yards; and about 2 yards wide.....
    7. Enniscrone 15th, par 4, 421 yards; just you, big grass, the Atlantic and, somewhere, a tiny fairway
    8. Corballis 9th, par 3, 190 yards; pin hiding in the left tongue, wind whipping, 15 thousand Titleists already swimming.....good luck
    9. Baltray 9th, par 4, 409 yards; just a proper, classic, long, tight, tough links par 4, with more sand than the Gobi
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    10. European 10th, par 4, 466 yards; much tougher than the 7th
    11. Carton Monty 11th, par 4, 450 yards; twisted and unreachable, no comment on the designer.............
    12. Portrush 7th, par 5, 552 yards; classy newcomer on the Big Daddy of them all
    13. Lough Erne 5th, par 3, 197 yards; into breeze, reeds and agua, no fairway, no bailout, re-load
    14. Macreddin 15th, par 5, 515 yards; climbing up a mountain, bending like a banana, run-off's into trees, throw in some breeze and my sweet Lord
    15. Glashedy 15th, par 4, 415 yards; Tobar Mhuiris, last autumn I hit 3 drivers into the front bunker, heaved it out into the gale, bombed in a 30 footer for my Score of the Year (bogey-actual-birdie)
    16. Athy 16th, par 4, 414 yards; up down, hands around, finishes at an ancient graveyard - as will your best hopes
    17. Portsalon 5th, par 3, 201 yards; height to height, back into draft, put away that 3w and swallow your pride, it's Big Dog time
    18. Strandhill 18th, par 4, 440 yards; uphill, into breeze, OOB on the right, gagging for a pint......the final, cruellest dagger of the lot

Have played them all - rather, they've all played with me. But what a sublime way to go !
