Lough Erne Resort launches inaugural Winter Series

Winter is coming but that doesn’t mean you should put your clubs away. Far from it. Golf clubs are running all manner of competitions and the inaugural five star Lough Erne Resort Winter Series which will be played on the Faldo Championship Course.

On the first Thursday of each month, from November 2018 to March 2019, competitors will battle it out for a place in the Grand Final on March 28, 2019.

This six-event Stableford Winter Series is open to all and the four leading male and female

players from each event will qualify for the Grand Final.

Competitors in the qualifying events can win a range of great prizes sponsored by Titleist and Footjoy, with the Grand Final also including some fantastic prizes sponsored by Lough Erne Resort.  Men will use White Tees, with ladies using Red Tees.

The Faldo Course at the Lough Erne Resort is all rather luxurious in feel and content and quality. A bit like the resort, really, and I was lucky enough to stay there back in April, so there’s no exaggeration on my part. The course may have fallen out of favour with some Top 100 rankings in the past couple of years but, in my opinion, that’s because not enough of the raters are getting up to play it. This lakeside idyll was constructed to the highest possible standards and the sand-based fairways and USGA spec greens ensure that the course is playable all year round.

Tournament Thursdays are as follows:

1. November 1 2018, 
2. December 6 2018, 
3. January 3 2019, 
4. February 7 2019, 
5. March 7, 2019. 

The Grand Final will take place on March 28, 2019.

The entry fee is an impressively low €35 per event and the Grand Final is free for those who qualify. You can play in all five events if you wish. Your entry includes refreshments at The Halfway House.
