Diamond Offer for Golf at Enniscrone

This is a blog I should have written some time ago. That’s the nature of things when you end up writing for several publications – your own ‘channel’ gets forgotten or ignored. Instead of writing you put your feet up watching Strictly Come Dancing.
I’m kidding of course. I never put my feet up when I watch Strictly*.
The 16th green getting a heavy watering in July after weeks of no rain.
There’s also an exceptional stay-and-play type offer from the Diamond Coast Hotel that
may interest you. See below.
The reason I should have written this earlier is because one of my favourite courses in Ireland is celebrating its centenary this year. Enniscrone is the only links celebrating this milestone and a very impressive book will shortly be published to its interesting history.
If you want to know why I love this place so much here are the things you need to know:
  1. Enniscrone is a links of fascinating character and variety, on the edge of Killala Bay in Co. Sligo.
  2. Enniscrone is a challenge from start to finish – after eight years of trying I made par on the 18th for the first time this year - and it is not for the faint of heart.
  3. Enniscrone’s dunes are magical. Their shapes are captivating, especially as you enter the back nine where the giant Cnoc na gCorp awaits.
  4. This is links golf that gets under your skin and sinks in deep, almost fusing you to the land you walk over.
  5. Enniscrone’s conditioning is never less than exceptional. Those greens are just perfect.

The 17th green at Enniscrone... not an angle you see often.
Yes, safe to say I love this place and if there’s one thing I always say to people about playing here it is this: you HAVE to play it twice. With the blind shots and the green sites you simply won’t appreciate and enjoy it unless you play it again.
And that’s where this great offer from the Diamond Coast Hotel comes in. The four star hotel sits right next to the golf course and that just makes life so much easier. I've stayed here many times and will stay many more. It has everything you need. As for the offer, I’ll say only this: 2 nights B&B, one dinner, and two rounds of golf for €129pps, in early November. Take a look:

You’re welcome.
* PS. In case any of you are worried about my sanity... I don't watch Strictly Come Dancing. As my wife said to me on our second date when I asked her if she wanted to see a show: "I'd rather stick needles in my eyes." I knew right then that she was a keeper.
